CHRISTOPHER Munro (no address given) yesterday appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry to answer charges of assault and threatening behaviour against his sister.
Particulars of the offence stated that on May 18, he unlawfully assaulted Felice Munro. Also on the same day, he made use of threatening behaviour towards Felice Munro.
The defendant pleaded guilty to the threatening behaviour charge and not guilty to the assault charge.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant and defendant are brother and sister and on the day in question they had an argument.
As a result of the argument, the defendant armed himself with a cutlass and rushed to the virtual complainant, asking her “if she wanted to see blood”.
Munro told the court that he did chase his sister with a cutlass and that he did it because she put her underwear liner in his face. He said he was angry at the time and picked up the cutlass.
The defendant was fined $25,000 or two weeks’ imprisonment on the charge of threatening behaviour, and the assault charge was dismissed, since the virtual complainant did not want to offer evidence against him.
