CONVICTED drug trafficker Michael Robertson (no address given) was sentenced to three years imprisonment yesterday.
He pleaded guilty to the charge before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, admitting that on April 1, in the Camp Street, Georgetown Prison, he had 29 grammes of cannabis (marijuana) for the purpose. The convict told the Court he was in the compound cleaning the yard when he found a black plastic bag with 21 packets of the prohibited substance and an officer saw when he picked it up.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said the inmate was seen acting in a suspicious manner and the bag was found in his pants crutch.
Robertson was also fined $30,000.
