High tide causes flooding, again, in Lower Pomeroon

AN EXTREMELY high tide, early last week Wednesday morning, left several farms in the lower Pomeroon River flooded, again.
It happened after water from the river overflowed the dam and inundated those cultivations owned by People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) Councillor, Mr. Rudolph Garraway and several others at Aberdeen, Strong Hope and Victoria.
The flooding affected those where defences were not built up.
The Government, through the Regional Administration in Region Two (Pomeroon /Supenaam) spent millions of dollars, recently, to raise several sections of the river defence dams in lower Pomeroon and more work is expected to be done soon.
Meanwhile, new lands are being made available in the Warapana area where it is much higher for other crops farming.
