Self professed King of the Dancehall Beenie Man and ‘Mrs. Jim Screechy’ Spice; both arrived in Guyana on Wednesday evening to confirm their attendance at the Easter Fest, slated for Saturday at the Guyana National Stadium.
The Jamaican duo will share the stage with R&B star Bobby Wilson, more popularly known as ‘Bobby V or ‘Bobby Valentino’ as part of the main acts for the event which is said to be the best show for the action pack Easter Weekend of activities.
“Beenie is home” said the Grammy winning Dancehall artiste Moses David, as he referred to his frequent visit to the Land of Many waters upon his arrival at the Chiddie Jagan International Airport.
It was a chaotic scene at the arrival terminal where fans flocked the two singers when they recognized them, some screaming their names, while some fight and push to get their autographs and photos taken and while everyone couldn’t have gotten their desired request, most of them when away with theirs fulfilled.
One thing is for certain though, both Spice and Beenie are promising a show which they claim will be unforgettable since they know how Guyanese are well receptive of their music.
‘Beenie Man’ was right when he said that Guyana was his second home based on the amount of times he had visited before.
His songs are like house hold name being sang off the lips of almost everyone while for Spice, while she has had a number of hits, it was her recent single “Jim Screechy” that sends patrons, especially women in a frenzy whenever and wherever it is played.
Meanwhile the main act, ‘Bobby-V’ is schedule to arrive in Guyana on Friday.
Other acts to hit the stage are Chutney singers Terry Gajraj and the ‘Dem a watch meh’ sensation Mahendra Ramkhelwan.
