ANOTHER ACCIDENT

– This time truck driver reportedly experienced a ‘fit’
AN early morning collision in downtown Georgetown left a motor car and a truck in a ditch at the intersection of New Market and Carmichael Streets.
According to the driver of the motor car involved in the accident, Premnauth Persaud, he was proceeding east along New Market Street in his Toyota Premio when the seemingly ‘runaway’ truck collided with his vehicle and forced him into a nearby ditch.

“I stopped at the junction before crossing and the truck just kept coming towards me,” explained the visibly shaken driver.
Persaud noted that the driver of the truck appeared to have experienced a ‘fit’, which caused him to loose control of the Bedford Truck he was driving, which subsequently crashed into him.
Eyewitnesses confirmed that the truck driver, a contract worker with the Mayor and City Council (M&CC), appeared to have lost consciousness causing him to run head long into the car.
When this newspaper visited the scene, the truck driver had already been taken to hospital and police officers were inspecting the scene of the accident. (Chevon Singh)
