THE Deccan Chargers have ended their home-losing streak with a 33-run win over the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League.
Bharat Chipli helped the home side reach 5-175, as he smashed an unbeaten 61 off 35 balls including five fours and three sixes, while Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara pitched in with 36 off 25 deliveries. Bangalore, in response, could muster only 9-142, which handed Deccan their maiden victory at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium this season.
The game looked out of Bangalore’s reach as they crumbled to be 4-29 in their pursuit of 176 for victory, and Indian star Virat Kohli’s innings of 71 – exactly half their team total – was a lone shining light for the losers.
Deccan paceman Dale Steyn led the way for his side with an economical 3-24 from four overs, while Manpreet Gony also claimed three wickets.
The other wickets for the 2009 Champions went the way of Ishant Sharma, Daniel Christian and Amit Mishra.
Deccan will remain at home for their next clash, against Kings XI Punjab, while Bangalore will visit the Chennai Super Kings in their next fixture.
