THE Police are investigating the murder of yet another woman, as there seems to be no letting up of the ugly scourge of domestic violence against women.
Dead is Gaitree Narine called ‘Lolita’, 26 years of Back Road, Soesdyke, East Bank Demerara (EBD)who met her death around 0810h. yesterday at Alliance Road, Timehri, EBD. According to the Police, investigations revealed that Narine visited the home of the father of her three children, from whom she recently separated, to collect a sum of money.
It is alleged that he attacked and chopped her about the body with a cutlass, then sought to take his own life by drinking a quantity of suspected poison. The suspect then jumped into a nearby creek.
He was however, taken out of the creek in an unconscious condition and along with his estranged reputed wife, taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre.
The woman was pronounced dead on arrival (DOA) at the institution.
The suspect was subsequently referred to the Georgeown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he has been admitted a patient and is under guard.
There has been a spare of murders of women at the hands of the male partners countrywide within the last six months.
A man, who chopped his ex-reputed wife to death when she went to him to collect cash’, failed in his bid to commit suicide by drinking poison and jumping into a creek.

Police said she had gone there to collect money when her ex reputed husband, from whom she had recently separated, attacked and chopped her about the body with a cutlass.
The man then drank some suspected poison and jumped into a nearby creek. He was taken out of the creek in an unconscious condition and, along with Narine, taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
The suspect was referred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he has been admitted a patient and is under guard.
