FORTY-YEAR-OLD Anil Persaud (no address given) was sentenced to three months imprisonment yesterday, on being convicted of simple larceny.
Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry inflicted the custodial punishment on the thief after he pleaded guilty to the theft, on October 31, 2010, of a quantity of bolts and nuts valued $10,000, property of Bhaunaswar Sahadeo. Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant is a businessman who operates under his house where the convict worked with him.
The prosecutor said Sahadeo had taken out the merchandise to sell a customer but discovered, later, that some of the items were missing.
However, Sahadeo said, while Persaud admitted stealing them, he did not return any.
