Create a more perfect and balanced country

THE ‘race card’ will be played big time by some in Guyana today due to the upcoming election this year. President Jagdeo was simply alerting his comrades of the baggage David Granger carries. The president never said that the PNC is a ‘black’ party and that we should not support it simply because of this. His message at Babu John was to educate the youth and let them know what the PNC is all about, based on their history.
Last time I checked, President Jagdeo did not even mention race. He said nothing about race but merely emphasised what that individual David Granger represents. I am glad my President is colour blind, but I am also glad that he is not ignorant about racism in this country! The real racists that have been hiding are the ones who like to stir up trouble. They have been hiding and denying their stupidity but soon this will finally be proven to all.
Long before the PNC congress to choose their presidential candidate, President Jagdeo took a swipe at Carl Greenidge telling the public how bad a former Minister of Finance he was. Carl Greenidge is also an African Guyanese, but president Jagdeo did not bash him about that. Instead he questioned his management skills; where is the race card there?

It is stupid to judge the president speech as racial. There is no subsidiary evidence to prove that the president is racial.

The contents of his speech were not offensive; somehow they give us a picture of what they think of the president. Personally, I find the issue of race to be totally artificial; a convenience for setting up and perpetuating the myth of one race being somehow superior to all other, and the popular issue of ‘us against them ‘that is used by many people in the world today.

We are here to create a more perfect and balanced country. There is nothing sacred about where we have been, only about the lessons that we learnt and apply in making Guyana a better place to live.
