Bandits invade ‘Mystical House’ church

– drummer sustained gunshot wound
POLICE are investigating an armed robbery which reportedly took place in a Church – the Mystical House at Costello Housing Scheme, West Ruimveldt at around 19:50 hrs on Sunday night, resulting in a drummer being shot in his leg.

According to reports, the service was in progress when three armed men, with their faces partially covered, pounced in on them, and proceeded to rob the congregation of jewellery and cash.

In the frenzy, a Church elder – Brother Gregory, allegedly picked up a stool and hurled it at one of the bandits, hitting him and causing him to accidentally drop his weapon. As he scrambled to retrieve it, another of the intruders reacted angrily and discharged a round, hitting the drummer, Brian Cummings in his thigh.

With booty in hand, the men fled the scene.
The Police yesterday indicated that it is in possession of the unlicensed .32 pistol with 12 matching rounds that was dropped by one of the bandits, and which was later handed over to the police by church members.

Meanwhile, Cummings was taken to hospital and the matter reported to the police.

The shooting incident is reminiscent of another invasion of a sacred house by an armed bandit who, about three years ago, entered the Church, unleashed terror, and shot and killed the head pastor, as elders were counting the evening’s offerings at Prophecy One Deliverance Ministries, Upper Hadfield Street, Georgetown.

Prophecy One Deliverance, despite the horrific encounter, has continued unabated, to preach the gospel, emerging even stronger under the mighty anointing of the dead pastor’s daughter, ‘Evangelist Shaundell’.
