A married couple appeared yesterday before Magistrate Nyasha Williams-Hatmin to answer to assault charges against each other. Mohammed Khan, 20, pleaded not guilty to unlawfully and maliciously assaulting his wife, Savitri Bissoon, on March 13 at Hague Front, West Coast Demerara.

Bissoon, also pleaded not guilty to the charge against her, particulars of which stated that on the same date she assaulted Khan so as to cause him actual bodily harm.

They were each released on $15,000 bail and are to make their next court appearance on May 31.
