Never mind the bomb scare…

Roshini is Miss India Guyana 2011
THE show must go on and not even a bomb scare deterred 24-year-old Roshini Boodoo, sponsored by S. Boodhoo, from winning the hearts of the judges at the Miss India Guyana Pageant, last Friday night at the National Cultural Centre. Her winning streak just wouldn’t quit as Boodhoo also won the GT&T People’s Choice Award and the Miss Congeniality special prize.

Sponsored by Popeye’s Seafood and Chicken, 23-year-old Shivanie Latchman scored the first runner-up position, and 21-year-old Divya Sieudarsan, sponsored by Guyana Power and Light (GPL), earned the second runner-up spot. In this pageant the first and second runners-up were crowned so Latchman and Sieudarsan went home with elegant tiaras.
Sponsored by Toolsie Persaud, 20-year-old Christine Camacho earned the third runner –up position, while 22-year old Mohini Roopchand, sponsored by Rockies Brazilian Bar, earned the fourth runner- up position.

Currently pursuing a Degree in Biology at the University of Guyana, 24-year-old Roshini loves to cook and is regarded as quite a chef by many of her peers. She has dreams of opening a restaurant to share her culinary skills with the world.
She has modelled for Guyana Fashion weekend. An active member of the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha, she feels blessed in her life and also gives back to society by helping out at her local orphanage.
Quite a “Tom Boy”, Roshini loves sports, including volleyball, go-carting and kayaking, cricket, and basketball.
Roshini feels privileged to share the same birthday, October 2, with Mohandas Gandhi. Two of her favourite quotes from his writings are: ” You may never know what results come of your action; but if you do nothing there will be no results “, so you should “be the change you wish to see in the world”
