THIS letter serves to place in its proper context a report in the Stabroek News of Tuesday March 8, 2011, attributing a clarification of information on the Ministry of Public Works and Communication to me. It had been observed by the Regional Chairman of Region 10 that the Stabroek News and Guyana Times, quoting a GINA release, had indicated that the Mayor & Town Council of Linden had issued a removal notice to vendors along the Winifred Gaskin Highway at Wismar, and the Chairman sought to correct this information by requesting that I provide a copy of his letter to the Hon. Minister Robeson Benn to the media, as he had been mandated to do by the residents at their meeting.
This letter merely stated that the removal notice had emanated from the Ministry of Public Works and Communication.
I, therefore, provided this letter to these news outlets to facilitate this correction, but was dismayed to find that I was quoted as attributing this removal notice to Minister Benn, when the letter provided did not state that in any way, and was under the signature of the Chairman.  I would therefore appreciate your publication of this letter for clarification, since I merely forwarded information on behalf of the Regional Chairman and certainly did not provide a quote, nor did I expect to be quoted on this matter.
