Man remanded on charge of firing loaded gun

TREVOR Fernandes, of Lot 78 First Street, Alberttown, Georgetown, was remanded to prison yesterday, on a charge of discharging a loaded firearm at two other persons.
The indictable charge, read to him by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, said he committed the offence on March 6, with intent to maim, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm to Onecia Henry and Claire DaSilva.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, told the Court that the accused was at the home of a friend when someone said ‘Deportee’ and he took the friend’s gun and fired shots in the direction of the virtual complainants.
The Prosecutor said no one was injured but the weapon, one live round and two spent shells were recovered.
The case was postponed to March 28.
