Man killed at Timehri, six in custody

THE  police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of handyman Mc Lean Benjamin, 55 years, of Hyde Park, Timehri, whose body was found in the yard of his residence with marks of violence about the body at about 07:30 hrs yesterday.

Reports reaching the Chronicle indicate that the body was discovered by a woman, one Gobin, who was a guest at a nearby ‘wedding house’.

The body was reportedly found bludgeoned to the head and  lying face down in a pile of sand with two pieces of wood on the body with body parts still on it.

The pieces of wood, believed to be the murder weapons, were taken away by the police yesterday, who also carried off several residents to the Timehri Police Station and guests of the wedding house for questioning.

Benjamin, who did odd jobs in the village, once worked in the interior, and was last seen alive around 21:00 hrs on Sunday night at the wedding house where he was imbibing.

The police, in a statement, said four men and two women have been arrested and are in custody assisting with the investigations.
