President Jagdeo sends sympathy message to New Zealand

President Bharrat Jagdeo has forwarded a message of sympathy to Prime Minister Mr.John Key of New Zealand with regard to an earthquake that struck the country on February 22, 2011, resulting in more than 100 deaths and massive destruction.
Following is the text of the message:

On behalf of the Government and people of Guyana, and on my own behalf, I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of New Zealand for the tragic loss of lives and damage sustained in the earthquake which struck the city of Christchurch on February 22, 2011.
We share your sorrow and grief during this difficult hour, and pray that the people will soon rebound from this tragedy and that the lives of those affected will soon return to a level of normalcy.
Please accept, Excellency, my best wishes for your country’s swift recovery.
