INTERNET CAFÉ STAFF TRAINING ON THE ONLINE DS-160 U.S. VISA FORM

THE U.S. Embassy in Georgetown will host a refresher workshop on February 25, 2011, for café owners/operators to discuss new procedures that have been implemented since the introduction of the DS-160 online non-immigrant visa (NIV) application. The primary goal of the workshop is to increase understanding on how café owners/operators can encourage applicants who may use their services to correctly complete this interactive online application. Live demonstrations on the use of the DS-160 application and handouts will be available for all in attendance.
Café owners/operators are asked to indicate their interest by contacting the U.S Embassy on telephone number 225-4900-9, ext(s). 4320 or 4327 between 10:00 am to 03:00 pm before February 23, 2011. More information will be available after your attendance is confirmed.
U.S. Embassy Georgetown has been using the DS-160 non-immigrant visa (NIV) application since April 1, 2010.  The form is available at http://georgetown.usembassy.gov/non-immigrant-visas.html, and is required for all non-immigrant U.S. visas, except fiancé visas (K visas).  The use of this application has been implemented at all U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide.
Use of the online application eliminates the need for each traveller to print an entire application to bring to the Consular Section at the time of the interview. Instead, applicants are able to upload a visa photograph, fill out the application in English (the form provides several translations but must be completed in English), and submit the form online via the internet. The DS-160 online form should be completed at least three days prior to the interview date. Applicants must print out the DS-160 confirmation sheet and bring it to the Consular Section along with their scheduled appointment confirmation page. If applicants arrive for an interview without a DS-160 confirmation page, they will not be permitted to be interviewed.
Applicants scheduling appointments via the online appointment system must first complete the DS-160 application, as they will be asked for the DS-160 confirmation number for each traveller at the time of making the appointment.
Applicants should continue to bring ALL other applicable supporting documents as needed for NIV applications, such as the visa MRV receipt from Demerara Bank, I-20, SEVIS receipt, etc. For more information, please visit the Embassy website at http://georgetown.usembassy.gov/non-immigrant-visas.html
