Two shot, wounded in one of three robberies

TWO men were shot and wounded in one of the three robberies reported over the past two days.
The injured men, identified as Junior Corbin, of ‘D’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown and Sean Sinclair, of Pattenson, East Coast Demerara, are patients of the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Sinclair suffered injury to his right foot and Corbin on his left foot, in the shooting that took place about 00:45 h yesterday, at Good Hope, Mahaica, also on East Coast Demerara.
Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Colonel (retired) Chabilall Ramsarup and his son, Arun Ramsarup, were the shooters who injured taxi driver Sinclair and Corbin, respectively.
Initial police investigations revealed that Arun, armed with his licensed shotgun, was making checks on his brother’s closed service station when he was confronted by two men, one of whom rushed towards him and was shot while the other, who ran away, was later apprehended.
Further enquiries disclosed that Chabilall, on seeing a vehicle parked not far away and suspicious of it, approached and was confronted by the driver whom he shot.
Investigations are continuing, too, into the 19:30 hrs Monday night incident in which 75-years old Olston Beresford, of Palmyra, Canje, was about to enter his motor car, PJJ 8370, on Republic Road, New Amsterdam, in Berbice, as well, when he was attacked and robbed by two men, one of whom was armed with a gun.
The robbers took away Beresford’s personal jewellery and his ‘Toyota Marino’ motor car but one suspect has since been arrested.
The same night, about 21:20 hrs, two men armed with guns attacked and robbed Guyanese Ray Williams, 49, who resides in the United States on Princes Street.
Williams was relieved of his motor car, PKK 9921, a cellular phone, jewels and a suitcase with contents by the perpetrators who escaped.
The vehicle was, subsequently, recovered in St. Phillip’s Green, another part of Georgetown, with several components missing.
