Man charged with restaurant shooting robbery remanded

With bullet lodged in throat…
ROBIN Holder, 20, of Lot XX 13 North East La Penitence, Georgetown, was, yesterday, remanded to prison on charges of robbery under arms and unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
It is alleged that, on January 24, being armed with a gun, he robbed Joan Williams of gold jewellery with a value of $645,000 and $8,445 cash and did, similarly, to Orrin Hutson, whom he relieved of two cellular phones worth $13,000 in booty valued a total of $666,445,000.
Holder was not required to plead to those indictable charges but he pleaded not guilty to others, which stated that, on January 24, too, he had a .38 revolver and four live matching rounds without being the holder of licences for them.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, successfully objected to bail for Holder, stating that the crimes were committed in the restaurant and bar owned by the virtual complainants.
The Prosecutor said the accused was in the company of another man and, after the former brandished a gun, patrons went to the victims’ assistance and shot the accused in the face.
Harvey said a .38 revolver with matching bullets were recovered from the accused but his companion escaped.
Attorney-at-law Mr. George Thomas, in his failed bail application, said Holder went to purchase a beverage from the bar and was caught in a crossfire, resulting in a bullet still lodged in his throat.
The lawyer claimed the accused, who has to be back in court on February 14, was, innocently, challenged by patrons in the bar.
