One man critical after attack at drinking shop

BEATEN by some other men while having a few drinks with friends, in a shop at Bee Hive, East Coast Demerara, on Sunday night, a man
is now in a critical condition at Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
Navindra Seecharran, 30, is nursing multiple stab wounds and a ruptured lung.
The patient, of Lot 306 Bee Hive Public Road, suffered four stab wounds, one on his chest, which perforated his left side lung;
another on his lower abdomen and two in the region of his right rib cage.
His two friends, with whom he had been imbibing, were also injured but less severely. One was dealt a chop to his head and the
other on his hand, among other minor injuries. They were both treated at the GPH and sent away.
Seecharran related that, shortly after midnight, three men with whom he had a previous misunderstanding a long time ago, walked
into the shop and hurled remarks at him.
He said he tried to ignore them but they continued to provoke him and he and his companions walked out and mounted their
bicycles.
However, the assailants pursued them and a fight that ensued resulted in all three of them being wounded. Other patrons in the
business place went to their rescue and a motor vehicle was hired to take them to hospital while the trio escaped.
Police are investigating the incident.
