A Trinidad-based Guyanese was Monday slapped with a 30-month jail sentence on gun–related matters.
Keron Mark Adams, 22, who resided at Cemetery Trace, in the Heights of Guanapo, appeared before Magistrate Indra Ramoo Haynes at the Arima Magistrate’s Court to answer a charge of possession of a gun and ammunition, according to a Trinidad Newsday report. Adams pleaded guilty and was handed the two-and-a-half year jail term.
Court prosecutor, Sgt Fitzgerald Johnson, told the court that on Friday last, a party of police officers from Arima CID carried out an exercise at several homes in the Heights
of Guanapo.
The officers executed search warrants at several homes in the area, including the one in which Adams resided, for arms and ammunition.
During the search of the prisoner’s home, the police found a 12-guage shotgun, four rounds of 12-guage cartridges, bullet-proof vests, and walkie-talkies.
Adams was arrested, and the gun, ammo, bullet-proof vests and walkie-talkies were confiscated.
