KURT Bharrat (no address given) was yesterday remanded to prison on an illegal drug possession charge. Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, he pleaded not guilty to having, on January 8, 23 kilogrammes of cannabis (marijuana).
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said cops, following the receipt of information, went to the defendant’s house and conducted a search which yielded the narcotic in a bag.
The case was transferred to Providence Court,  East Bank Demerara, for January 12.
