THE termination of Carl Greenidge is in no way, evidence of the government’s pettiness or spitefulness to individuals who oppose the political views of the government. I am referring to the letter written by Christopher Ram, as published in both the Kaiteur News and Stabroek News of January 5, 2011. Carl Greenidge is a political figure and an international public servant, since the nature of his work allows for him to conduct negotiations for regional governments that fall circumspectly within the landscape of the CARICOM framework.
Carl Greenidge was the Director General of The Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA). There must exist, in his relations, a sense of trust and respect that his actions should bring about. This was violated with his irrational comments. Carl Greenidge’s public rewards represent a political position, which compromises his neutrality as an international public servant. No government and no government in the history of Guyana would continue to work with an individual who betrayed the trust conferred upon him as an international public servant. Greenidge publicly declared his own loathe and contempt for the government.
This matter is simple. It has nothing to do with Greenidge’s appointment or termination. It is wrapped and blanketed in the fact that with his position as an international public servant, comes the responsibility to confirm to the protocols of that thinking.
Greenidge should have acted in accordance with his position
