THE youths of this country are the future leaders of this country. They are the ones that will someday soon, govern the affairs of this nation, and as such, they must be prepared for the challenges and different situations that will befall them in the future. The time for this preparation and grooming is now. The government of Guyana recognises and respects this need , and sees it as its duty and legal obligation to educate, train and groom Guyanese youths in preparation for their roles as productive, progress driven individuals, working together for the cause of a better Guyana for all. The National Training Programme for Youth Empowerment (NTYPE) was established to ensure that this goal is realised.
On October 30 different students were enrolled to commence training to qualify themselves in the field of auto air conditioning and fuel systems, as the government of Guyana collaborated with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), to achieve this objective.
Hence, I must say that the government’s initiatives to train and educate young Guyanese for youth empowerment through the National Training Project for Youth Empowerment (NTPYE), where 175 persons graduated last month, after being trained in, and equipped with 25 various skills, is commendable. In the President’s 2010 New Year’s address to the nation, he urged the NTYPE to the task of training 4000 youths, and to date a total of 2047 students have since graduated, and are better skilled to approach the job market.
In the eyes of the government, the youths are not just the future, but they are our future, and no effort must be spared to educate, train, and groom them.
Government views the youths as our future
