The People’ Progressive Party extends best wishes to all Guyanese at this Christmas season. This holiday, which has its genesis in the Christian religion, has developed through the ages into a people’s festival.

It comes at a time of the year when people look back at their achievements and celebrate them. It offers the chance to look ahead and plan for the future.

We are celebrating Christmas in Guyana at a time when our country has undergone and is undergoing profound and deep-going changes. The landscape has changed significantly. Many Guyanese returning home have expressed amazement at the transformation that has taken place.

Guyana is moving ahead at a rapid pace. In the changing environment, the PPP/Civic government has put in place many programmes to assist the poor and vulnerable. It has also created conditions to ensure that all our people have equal opportunity to develop.

We take this opportunity to welcome all visitors to our country at this time and hope that they enjoy a great Guyanese Christmas.
