Commonsense not that common anymore, intellect scarce

IT seems that commonsense is just not that common anymore in Guyana these days. More upsetting, is the reality that intellect, at a time when it is most needed, is an extremely scarce commodity; and this is so, particularly among our university and youth population, of which intellect, creativity and commonsense are most mandatorily required. I say this, because young people of today seem to be unaware of their own environment. This laid-back nature that is cultivated in our youths has rendered them docile and compliant to matters that directly affect them. Matters that threaten them in the most negative ways. The University of Guyana has committed severe academic and social atrocities against its students throughout the years, and it seems that this has now indefinitely crippled this specific group’s abilities to creatively and intelligently think outside of the box and see things through their own eyes. Scandalous indeed, since this is the generation that someday soon, will be the leaders of this nation. A playground for educated dunces is what will become of Guyana, if our youths choose to decline to endeavour to step outside the box and continue to allow themselves to be railroaded by this administration.
