Salvation Army to distribute Christmas Hampers Wednesday

The Guyana Division of the Salvation Army will, on Wednesday hold its traditional annual Christmas Hampers Distribution for the needy at the Georgetown Citadel Corps, South Road and Alexander Streets, beginning at 10:00 hours.
Special Guest will be the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ashni Singh who will deliver the feature address.
Also in attendance will be Mrs. Geetanjali Singh, Audit Director, Audit Office of Guyana, who will deliver greetings to the gathering, as well as deliver the first set of hampers to senior citizens. Chairman of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, Mr. Edward Boyer and other board members will also assist the local Corps Officers in the distribution process.
Welcome and Introductory remarks will be done by Divisional Commander, Major Sinous Theodore and a segment of Christmas carol singing will be led by Divisional Director of Women’s Ministries, Major Marie Theodore and Captain Mireille St. Lot of the Men’s Social Services Centre.
The ‘Christmas Story’ will be told by Divisional Youth and Candidate Secretary, Captain Velice Thomas.
During the distribution process, more than 500 hampers will be distributed to needy persons who would have already registered and received their tickets.
The Salvation Army wishes to advise that, in keeping with rules of the event, only those persons registered and issued with tickets will receive hampers.  Recipients of hampers are asked to be seated before 10:00 hrs.
Meanwhile, the Salvation Army wishes to thank all those citizens who have so generously given and continue to give to the Annual Christmas Appeal – both through the mail, bank and Kettles in the Streets, to assist in carrying out their programmes locally.
