WITH the holidays just around the corner, almost every store was opened yesterday on one of the busiest commercial streets, Regent Street.
The shoppers braved the mid-morning rains just looking for deals on decorations, curtains, furniture and electronics as Christmas looms. Some retailers were seen with a smirk as shoppers traverse Regent Street, purchasing items in almost every store.
“It just started with a bang (Sunday) morning with people shopping as early as 9:30 a.m.,” said one sales person at a curtain store on Regent Street.
One early customer said “The Sunday opening definitely got people in the Christmas spirit”.
One vendor who wished to remain anonymous said sales have picked up as in the past year, but noted that there is still time left to bring in sales.
“Things are definitely picking up. I have to be optimistic. I think it’s going to be a great season. People are getting in the spirit and getting excited” said one vendor on Regent Street.
Sunday shopping also gives those busy working moms an opportunity to fit in extra shopping hours.
