Pollard and Hercules to receive special token compliments of KJW

21st Kashif and Shanghai
GUYANA’S All Stars will oppose Brazil’s Atletico Roraima in an exhibition match to herald the start of the 21st Kashif and Shanghai football tournament at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence this Sunday, with the clash being played to the honour of Clyde ‘Hitman’ Hercules and Charles ‘Lily’ Pollard.

According to the managing directors of the Kashif and Shanghai Organization (K&S) Greg ‘Kashif’ Muhammad and Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major, this is one way their organization thought of saying thanks to two of the nations’ soccer stalwarts and King’s Jewellery World (KJW) has chipped in with their contribution.
At a simple presentation ceremony held in their Quamina Street showroom, manager of KJW Ralph Persaud presented two 14k rings that has the K&S logo as well as the names of the two players engraved to both Major and Muhammad.
In an invited comment, Persaud said his company has been associated with the dynamic duo from the birth of their tournament.
“Certainly this is not the first and it will not be the last time we at KJW will be partnering with the K&S Organization, as we have been associated with them from the beginning and when we were approached to contribute towards the appreciation of what the two players have done for Guyana, we could not think of a better way than this.
The design used was similar to that of the Stanford T20 tournament, using the K&S Organization logo, and with us being the lone jewellers in Guyana and the Caribbean who can design same, why not give to our own, our very own unique creation”, stated Persaud.
In his thank you remarks, Muhammad expressed his appreciation to the donors, while stating how long he has known the proprietor of KJW Mr. Looknauth King.
“I have known Mr. King for over 21 years and I am indeed happy that KJW could have come forward with such a gesture at such a timely moment for these two guys who have done their best for Guyana’s football over the years”, said Muhammad.
While Pollard is still actively involved in the game, Hercules has turned his attention to coaching and is presently the assistant coach of Guyana’s Golden Jaguars.
Both players who also had the distinct opportunity of wearing the captain’s arm band for Guyana, will be involved in the matchup, teaming up with players in the caliber of Dwain Jacobs, Randolph ‘Blackhead’ Jerome, Walter ‘Boyd’ Moore, Kayode Mc Kinnon and Nigel ‘Powers’ Codrington.
