THE Allied Arts Unit in the Education Ministry, in collaboration with Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO), started a physical education (PE) workshop for primary schools in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) yesterday. The three-day programme, continuing at Anna Regina Multilateral School (ARMS) on the Essequibo Coast, will expose teachers to the basic skills and knowledge of activities in grades four, five and six, as proposed in the National Physical Education Curriculum Guide.
Among the topics on the agenda are athletics, the role of the physical education teacher, dance, gymnastics, pre-sport games, cricket and football, health and fitness, planning, delivery and organising of a PE class and volleyball.
The facilitators include Mr. Nicholas Fraser, Mr. Kurt Braithwaite, Mr. Arnold Sukhraj, Ms. Shirley Inniss and Miss Allison Rawlins, all of the Allied Arts Unit.
