President Jagdeo sends message to President Chavez on flooding, deaths in Venezuela

PRESIDENT Bharrat Jagdeo has expressed profound sympathy to his colleague in Venezuela, President Hugo Chavez, whose country is reeling from days of torrential rain which brought widespread flooding, destroyed thousands of homes through landslides, and killed 21 people.
A state of emergency has been declared in four states, including the capital, Caracas.
The message reads:
My Dear Colleague,
“ I would like to extend to you my personal sympathy on the loss of lives and damage to property caused by the severe flooding and landslides that have ravaged several communities of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in recent days.
The Government and people of Guyana join me in expressing our sincere hope that those citizens who have been affected will soon be able to overcome the tragedy and displacement caused by this disaster.
Please accept my best wishes for the successful implementation of the emergency plans which your Government has implemented to bring about a state of normalcy to the communities which  have suffered.”

Bharrat Jagdeo
President of the Republic of Guyana
