‘Cobra’, two others linked in substituted robbery charge

THE robbery charges against Tyrone Rowe alias ‘Cobra’ were withdrawn yesterday and a joint charge substituted, when he made another appearance in front of Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry. Particulars of the new accusation allege that, last March 1, Rowe, Anand Lallchand and Dwayne Critchlow robbed Troy Collins of jewellery worth $1.4M.

Rowe was not required to plead to the indictable offence and arrest warrants were issued for the absent Lallchand and Critchlow.

Rowe, 17, of Lot 268 Independence Boulevard, La Penitence, Georgetown, first appeared before then Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson when one charge said, on August 5, at Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, he murdered Troy Collymore.

Another charge alleged that, on September 4, at Brickdam Police Station, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged a one way mirror valued $1.4M, property of the Guyana Police Force (GPF).

Rowe was further remanded to prison and the cases will be called, again, on December 20. (Nathalene DeFreitas)
