Goed Fortuin fisherfolk meet President to settle relocation issue

PRESIDENT Bharrat Jagdeo has taken into consideration the concerns of fisherfolk from the Goed Fortuin area on the West Bank of Demerara about the new location proposed for them to operate.
The group met President Bharrat Jagdeo Wednesday at State House, in the presence of Minister of Agriculture Robert Persaud and Minister of Transport and Hydraulics Robeson Benn.

The fishermen operate in the vicinity of the Goed Fortuin koker and said that the new proposed area located at Vreed-en-Hoop is unsuitable, citing a number of challenges which they say may hinder their work.
The relevant authorities are expected to visit the area shortly, for an assessment and later a determination.
