THE Mayor and City Council (M&CC) said it is alarmed by the high level of environmentally unfriendly attitude displayed by some residents of Georgetown.
The Municipality, in a press release yesterday, said some indiscriminately dump refuse in streets, alleyways, drains and parapets.
The release said, as a result of that practice, many waterways remain stagnant, providing a favourable environment for mosquitoes, especially during the rainfall periods.
The release said, in some cases, residents do not provide for the appropriate drainage of their lots and the absence of drains does not only constitute a breach but also compromises the health of local communities and the city as a whole.
The M&CC said, it is therefore, calling upon all property owners and occupiers to ensure that provisions are put in place to ensure the integrity of the city.
