WHETHER the management or the union is at fault or both in varying degrees, strikes create a lose/lose situation for both, and the nation at large. One worker was reported to have said in a previous strike that a longer strike would make management feel more. Not only will management feel but the industry may fail. How this will benefit the workers is not clear. There seems to be serious problems with management/ and worker attendance, attitudes and the Skeldon factory design and operation.
It is time for the President to act and not only threaten intervention. Selling, closing, reducing operations and using migratory workers to fill shortages should be considered, after all this is a national economic issue not just between management and worker.
