Lightning disrupts NCN transmission

THE National Communications Network Inc. (NCN) was yesterday off-air for approximately three hours due to an early morning thunderstorm. According to NCN Programme Manager, Mr. Martin Goolsarran, heavy thunder and lightning caused the tower transmitting signals to both radio and television to be damaged, and both stations to be down from around 08:30h.
Goolsarran said that while he could not say with any certainty what was the extent of the damage, a technical team was deployed to assess and manage the situation, and in the interim, restore transmission temporarily.
“I cannot say the extent of the damage, but both radio and television are back on, temporarily, until the team rectifies the problem,” Goolsarran said.
