A mobile police patrol came under fire around 03:45hrs yesterday from occupants in a motor car in the Guyhoc Park area, as they followed the vehicle that had no number plates. The police returned fire as they observed an object thrown from the car and into the nearby canal.
The motor car subsequently stopped, and upon checking, the ranks found two men inside. Trevor Belle, 31, of Henry Street, Werk-en-Rust was found with a wound to his back while Courtney Higgins, 22 , also of Henry Street, was found with a wound to his foot.
They have been admitted patients under guard at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
