St. Monica gets outboard engine, solar electricity panel

THE Government, through the Regional Administration in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam), has donated a 15 horse power (hp) ‘Yamaha’ outboard engine to the St. Monica Health Post along upper Pomeroon River.
Regional Chairman Mr. Alli Baksh handed it over to St. Monica Health Worker, Ms. Rosita Simeon and said the Government focus is to provide efficient health care services, free of cost, to all citizens countrywide.

He said the new engine will be used by Simeon to pay home visits along Pomeroon River and creeks in her area of responsibility and transport emergency cases to Charity Hospital on Essequibo Coast.
Baksh said the community health boat was rehabilitated by the Regional Administration.
He also presented a solar panel set to provide the health post with electricity to facilitate the storage of vaccines.
PM Hinds tours five-storey complex, congratulates Alphonso
PRIME Minister Samuel Hinds and a high level delegation toured the Alfro Alphonso five-storey supermarket complex that is nearing completion at Charity on Essequibo Coast.
Guiding Mr. Hinds was Managing Director of Alphonso Group of Companies, Mr. Alfro Alphonso who took him to each floor of the state-of-the-art edifice.
The Prime Minister said he was very impressed with what he saw and congratulated Alphonso for investing so heavily in a project that will benefit Guyanese and the country as a whole.
Standing on the fifth floor of the building that overlooks Pomeroon River, the entire Charity and part of the coastland, Mr. Hinds said the supermarket will change the trend of shopping in the ‘Cinderella County’ and create employment for many persons.
The business place is expected to be open ahead of the Christmas season.
