For graduate teachers reunion…

Alumnus seeking to find class of 1960 alumni
FIVE decades after, a woman is hoping to find other alumni of the 1960 class of graduates from the predecessor of Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE).
A former Head of the New Amsterdam, Berbice Division of the then Teachers Training College (TTC), from 1992 to 2005, Ms. Rosalina Garret began her quest with an advertisement, last Sunday, hoping that persons with whom she graduated would see it and respond.

TTC had been in existence since 1928, having been established as the Government Training College, by the first Guyanese Principal, Mr. Robert Cyril Gladstone Potter, for whom it was renamed in 1976.
Garret, who was in high spirits yesterday, admitted that the task of gathering everyone together would not be an easy one because she has not had any contact with nor knows the whereabouts of the 160 persons who might have dispersed throughout the country or the world at large.
She realises, too, that her contemporaries are now all more than 70 years old.
Today CPCE still has a branch in New Amsterdam but has others at Rose Hall, also in Berbice; Linden, Upper Demerara River; Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara; Anna Regina, Essequibo Coast as well as its main Turkeyen Campus, Greater Georgetown.
The original TTC was located in Kingston, Georgetown, where the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD) building now stands.
Garret said the proposed reunion is scheduled for December at Turkeyen and she can be contacted on telephone number 332-0068.
