. . . soldier to be court-martialled
THE Guyana Defence Force (GDF) has recovered a weapon which was reported missing during a training involving its troops. A release from the Army announcing the find, stated that the missing weapon, an AK-47, was found yesterday in a part of the training camp that had not previously been searched.
The weapon was issued to a rank during an exercise but upon completion of the exercise, it could not have been accounted for.
Following a report that the weapon was lost, the Army immediately dispatched search parties to the location. Several diligent searches were conducted using metal detectors and similar devices at the camp and its immediate vicinity.
The Army also noted that the rank to whom the weapon was issued, will face disciplinary action before an army court.
