– woman loses tooth in incident at Red Dragon Night Club
ACTING Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday released John Burnett on bail when he appeared in court charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm. Burnett, a 56-year-old security guard of Red Dragon Night Club, on 53 Robb Street, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
It is alleged that Burnett, of 59 D’Urban Street, Lodge, unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm on Rovila Dillon.
The defendant’s lawyer, Mr. Lance Ferreira, told the court that his client was willing to offer compensation to Dillon in the sum of $160,000.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the defendant and victim are no strangers to each other.
He said the woman was partying at the night club with her friends to the annoyance of the defendant who went up and punched her in the face. This caused the woman to lose a tooth, he said.
Burnett was released on $75,000 bail and the case will be called again on November 23.
