‘Cobra’ robbery cases postponed to November 3

TYRONE Rowe alias ‘Cobra’, who surrendered to Police recently after a wanted bulletin was issued for him, in connection with offences ranging from robbery to murder, made another Court appearance on Friday last.

Before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton, the cases surrounding robbery under arms and damage to property were postponed to November 3, for statements to be submitted.

When Police Sergeant Shellon Daniels, prosecuting, said she was not ready to proceed, the magistrate said the Prosecution should have been.
However, the magistrate said the Police now have ample time to prepare for the next occasion, when it will be determined whether the matters will be dealt with summarily or indictably.

The 17-year-old Rowe, of Lot 268 Independence Boulevard, Georgetown, first appeared in front of then Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson and was remanded to prison on the charge that, last August 5, at Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, he murdered Troy Collymore.

Other indictable charges against Rowe said, last May 16, being armed with a gun, he robbed Mark Hunt of a gold chain and gold band valued a total $160,000 and, on March 1, at gunpoint, he also robbed Troy Collins of a quantity of gold and diamond jewellery worth $1.4M.

Rowe pleaded not guilty to the damage to property charge, which said, on September 4, at Brickdam Police Station, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged a $1.4M ‘one way mirror’ – property of the Guyana Police Force (GPF).
