JASON Lawrence, charged with armed robbery, yesterday claimed that he is suffering from malaria and typhoid.
But his request for bail was denied by Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton. The 21-year-old defendant (no address given) pleaded not guilty to having, on August 28, being armed with a pair of scissors, robbed Marlon Phillips of a gold chain, a cellular phone and cash, making a total loss of $81,000 to the virtual complainant.
Pointing out that Phillips was not in attendance, Lawrence maintained that he is in need of medical attention but the magistrate advised him to inform the prison authorities and postponed his case to November 30.
