THE owner of a pitbull appeared in Court yesterday on a charge of suffering the ferocious animal to be at large.
Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, Quacy Bharrat, 34, of Lot 658 East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, was accused of, being the animal owner, suffered it to cause injuries to Patrick Gordon, last August 23.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence and was granted $40,000 bail until November 8.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was a pedestrian when the pitbull attack took place and he was bitten on several parts of his body.
The Prosecutor said following investigations into the incident, the file was sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) who advised that the defendant be charged.
