AKEEM Trotman, of Lot 1450 Block ‘A’ Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, was yesterday ordered to post $80,000 bail after he pleaded not guilty to a larceny charge.
Particulars of the offence, read to him by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, said the defendant, last October 8, stole two gold chains, valued $100,000, from Jennifer Indar.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the jewels were snatched off the virtual complainant’s neck and Trotman was apprehended by public-spirited citizens after the woman raised an alarm.
The case is scheduled for trial on November 25.
