The Lion’s Club of Georgetown Friday presented a quantity of reading material to the Pediatric Unit at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).
Among those in attendance were Chairperson for the Education and Youth Committee of the Lion’s Club of Georgetown Ms.Grace Sylvain, Secretary Ms.Lynette Baird, Treasurer Ms.Dale Johnson, Member of the Youth Committee Ms.Shurla Brotherson, Public Relations Officer at the GPHC Ms.Alero Proctor and several nurses from the Pediatric Unit at the Hospital.
According to Secretary of the Club, Ms.Lynette Baird, the gesture is a two-fold one, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Lionism and in recognition of Education Month.
“This is the first time we are doing this; we are celebrating 50 years in existence so we embarked on this initiative,” Ms.Baird pointed out.
Accepting on behalf of the Pediatric Unit, Nurse Nalini Persaud Duncan thanked the members of the organisation for their generous gift, which, she emphasized, will be put to good use in the department.
