The couple from Switzerland, Bruno and Renate Furer, travelling around the world on their mobile home, ‘Pepamobile’, on Thursday visited the Kaieteur Falls and were mesmerized by its majestic nature describing it as one of the most beautiful they have ever seen.
Having visited 50 countries to date since their journey began 10 years ago, the couple is in Guyana after coming through neighbouring Suriname on September 20.
The couple described the falls as “very beautiful and very interesting” being one of the world’s natural wonders with its explosive display of nature’s power cascading 226 meters (741 feet) in a sheer drop, the Guyana Tourism Authority said in a release.
They conceded that it is one of the most beautiful waterfalls they have ever seen, and were educated on it and its immediate environs, the latter enriched with a myriad of rare and endangered species, as well as unique landscape and forest types including the seldom seen Cock- of-the-Rock and the rare Golden Frog.
The couple promised to promote ‘Destination Guyana’ and encourage others to come and explore its natural beauty and experience its diverse and rich culture.
They left for Brazil at the weekend, after visiting the Rock View and Surama eco-lodges on their way to Lethem.
The Furers, who embarked on the expedition to learn about other people’s culture and way of life, have so far visited 10 countries in South America. (GINA)
