After ‘Dusk till Dawn’ encounter…

Spurned lover fined for assaulting ex-paramour
LOVESICK Collie Solomon, who assaulted his former live-in paramour because she has moved on with her life, was yesterday fined $40,000 with the alternative of six months imprisonment.
Magistrate Tejnarine Ramroop imposed the monetary penalty on him, at Albion Court, Corentyne, for the September 12 offence.

The defendant, 23, of Lot 19 Muttan Street, Rose Hall and formerly of Lot 124 Albert Street, Corriverton, at Corentyne, too, was at ‘Dusk till Dawn’ nightclub, in the former Berbice town when he saw Melissa David with her current partner.
On seeing the couple, Solomon approached the woman and requested the return of a cellular phone and money which he had given her two weeks before, but she ignored him, said Police Inspector Satrohan Dayaram, prosecuting.
The Prosecutor told the Court Solomon became annoyed, left the place of entertainment and went to the virtual complainant’s home where he secluded himself behind her bedroom door, armed with a knife.
However, as she made her approach to the door, she saw Solomon who threatened to kill her and her new suitor before slapping and cuffing her several times and slammed her body against a wall.
David confirmed, to the magistrate, that she no longer shares a relationship with Solomon and he was ordered to pay the fine after he begged not to be sent to prison.
Magistrate Ramroop told David that, while he was imposing what is stipulated by law, she must not play with one’s emotions.
