The two-day Amerindian Heritage Sports activities culminated yesterday at the Carifesta Avenue Sports Complex.
The event, staged by the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs in its continued observation of Amerindian Heritage Month, was officially launched on Saturday, amidst the excited expectations of Amerindians from across the regions.
Among the numerous of activities planned for the celebrations were several sporting events, including the finals of the volleyball and cricket matches, along with piwari drinking and pepper pot eating contests.
For those present who did not participate in the sporting events, there were many other activities to chose from, including face painting and sampling of the many delicious Amerindian dishes and beverages on sale.
Reflecting on the excitement of the past two days, an overjoyed observer, Shabana Daniels, said, “It has been a great experience since yesterday and I could not wait to return today,” adding, “I really enjoyed myself.”
