PM Hinds joins Frandec to celebrate fiftieth anniversary

FRANDEC Travel Service celebrated its 50th anniversary yesterday, at a gathering of friends and supporters, at its Main Street, Georgetown Head Office. The company was established on September 16, 1960 as the first such independent agency in Guyana, making it the longest serving representative of all major international airlines and cruise liners.
Reflecting on the past 50 years, the Chairman, Mrs. Gem Eytle, pointed out that it was not an easy journey as the entity has been through rough periods.
“I did not think I would be here today. I remember the first time I walked up the stairs at Lot 5 America Street, the first location and, today, I am the owner,” she related.
Eytle said, in spite of the evolving changes in the industry over the years, Frandec has stood the test of time.
“When we first started in the business, fares were tabulated using charts. Today technology has made it a lot easier,” she acknowledged.
Alluding to the competition from other agencies, Eytle said, over the years, Frandec has been able to continually offer exceptional service and remain one of the leading travel agencies in the country through several guiding principles.
“Our motto is to offer services with honesty, quality, integrity, credibility and confidentiality and this is why we are still here,” she asserted.
The CEO, Mrs. Kathryn Eytle McLean expressed her gratitude to all their customers and well-wishers for their continued support and underscored the importance of the quality service offered at Frandec.
She said: “Today marks fifty years of our existence and it is clear that persons still appreciate the personal touch offered here, in comparison to the impersonal online booking system.”
Prime Minister Samuel Hinds also graced the occasion with his presence and joined in celebrating the Frandec milestone.
